The coastline North of Holy Island is very rugged with a section of cliff topped walking South of Berwick upon Tweed.

Northumberland National Park covers 405 square miles in size. The National Park stretches from the rolling Cheviot Hills near the Scottish border down to the ancient Hadrian's Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage site that once marked the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. 

The walks above explore two very contrasting areas of Northumberland National Park as one is in the North of the National Park and the second in the South.

The great things about short walks is they can be shared by people of all ages and both these walks are very contrasting.

Warkworth is known for it’s stunning Medieval castle The village and castle occupy a loop of the River Coquet, and the walk above explores that picturesque loop of  the river.

The Mitford Castle walk is very different, totally off the tourist trail it visits Mitford Castle, which has the only five-sided keep in England. It also skirts the Great North Road, now known as the A1, which for generations has been the main road into the North-east of England.
