Lake District Rescue - TV series - More 4
A new TV series has started on More 4, Lake District Rescue, which follows the Mountain Rescue teams in the Lake District.
If you have not watched it yet, it is a must.
In 2023, the year the TV programme was filmed, Lake District Mountain Rescue teams have never been busier.
Many team members wore body-cameras to capture a number of the rescues they were involved in for this TV series.
The Lake District welcomes 47 million visitors a year – many woefully underprepared for the wild terrain and weather that can change in an instant.
During the series the camera crews followed 12 teams and over 400 team members. These are made up of locals, all volunteers, all on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
When they’re not saving lives, the mountain rescue volunteers are teachers, electricians, doctors, police officers and shop assistants etc.
These are locals that live and breathe the Lake District and know its terrain like the back of their hand.
After watching the watching the series, we can’t recommend it enough, it really captures the great work these volunteers do.
