Harwood. Harwood car park (glorified lay by). (Nz 002902) This is signposted off to your left as you drive into the village. If you are approaching Harwood on the B6342 (travelling north) take the second left after Cambo (signposted Harwood, Elsdon). Take the first right turn signposted Harwood Village.
This is a nice gentle walk that involves little climbing but still gives you the satisfaction of more strenuous walks. There are some interesting points on route.
It explores some of the little known gems of Northumberland.
The walk starts with a forest section and then the beautiful Greenleighton moor, as you look down on Fallowlees burn winding its way to the reservoir.
The section of the walk that skirts Fontburn reservoir is exquisite and relatively hard to get to, therefore it is so unspoilt.
You then return via Fallowlees farm, which is a nice walk through Harwood forest on good paths. Every time I have undertaken this walk I have never failed to see Roe deer grazing on the lush young grass next to the forest tracks. Keep your camera handy.

- This walk crosses our farm, so I hope I give you a little extra information in this walk guide. As many of the paths in this area are not walked very often they may not be clear under foot, so I recommend this route guide be walked in conjunction with an OS map.
- While re walking this walk recently to make sure nothing had changed, I had a moment to treasure. A Kestrel sitting on a fence post. As it spotted me it took to the air, but instead of flying away it hovered effortlessly for over five minutes, before diving down for it’s prey. It was a spectacular site.
