Welcome to the Northumberland section of Shepherds Walks.
As I live and work in Northumberland I have researched and written my favourite walks this spectacular and varied county has to offer.
The wide variety of scenery Northumberland has to offer makes it a special place to get away from the crowds and enjoy, "The land of far horizons". From the relatively flat and wooded area of Kielder Forest to the wonderful rugged, but beautiful Cheviot Hills in the North the range of scenery is quite spectacular. Compared to similar landscapes throughout the country the most striking feature you will notice about Northumberland is the lack of people. Many a day whilst out walking you will not see a soul all day.
There are walks available on the web site for every level of walker. From the short walk for all the family, to the ascent of the highest peak in Northumberland, the Cheviot.
As well as covering some of the more popular walks in Northumberland, such as Hadrians Wall and The Cheviot itself, I have tried to include some of the undiscovered areas which I think have just as much to offer. This is where I hope my local knowledge gained by living, working and walking in the Northumberland countryside can be appreciated in both the guides I have written and the walks that I lead.
Over the years that I have been writing walking guides in my home county of Northumberland the feedback from everybody has been unbelievable and many of my walks have been printed in a number of both local and national publications.
Feel free to contact us about anything on the site or any of the walks and I hope you enjoy looking round our website.
