Welcome to the Cumbria section of Shepherds Walks.

Cumbria, including the Lake District has long been recognised as the finest landscape for walking in the country.

There are plenty of areas the crowds never find in the Lake District and the county of Cumbria and hopefully I have tried to write walks in some of these. Even on the busiest of summer days, it's relatively easy to escape the crowds by climbing to the higher fells and more remote valleys or alternatively heading away from the main, "Tourist traps". If you choose to visit Cumbria in late autumn or winter, you are treated to empty paths and the lovely crisp, clear air, which makes it extra special.

There are walks for every level of walker. From the short, but interesting walk for all the family, to the ascent of some of the finest high fells Cumbria has to offer. From its coastal plains to the wild hills surrounded by glacial lakes and forested valley's it is difficult to imagine any other area with such a wide variety of scenery.

After shepherding in Northern England and walking in Cumbria for all my life I have tried to incorporate my passion for the countryside and reflect my enthusiasm for this spectacular area in to the walking guides I have written and the guided walks I lead.

Feel free to contact us about anything on the site or any of the walks and I hope you enjoy looking round our website.
